Porcelain
and Direct Veneers
| Preparing
porcelain and direct veneers are particularly popular
nowadays, as only a tiny
amount of tooth substance is removed - there
is no need to crown the teeth at the first stage.
On the other hand, veneers look remarkably beautiful and at the same time,
they are durable,
too.
One
of the main profile's of our Dentistry is to prepare
direct veneers. |

How
are porcelain veneers prepared?
When
preparing porcelain veneers, we remove as thin as 0.5-1
mm tooth substance from the labial surface of the teeth.
Following this, porcelain veneers are made by a precision
imprint by the dental technician and they are fixed on the
occasion of a subsequent appointment. Outstanding aesthetic
effect can be attained with porcelain veneers.
How
are direct veneers made?
Direct
veneers are made entirely by the dentist, using specific
stratifying technology along with special filling material.
When
setting the veneers up, perfect
aesthetic effect can be achieved by using a wide
range of filling material varying in their tints. Veneers
are often made of a mixture of 8-10 different tints.

The
most advantageous feature of direct veneers is that only
minimal tooth substance has to
be removed. Unlike porcelain veneers, direct veneers
are prepared during one single session, and also even more
than one of them can be prepared at the same time, if necessary.
Direct
veneers are also less vulnerable
comparing to porcelain veneers, and they can be altered
in shape or colour at any time. As the dental technician
is not involved in preparing direct veneers, they can be
prepared at a lower price.
In which cases
do we recommend veneers?
Regarding
the aesthetic effect of the denture, the leading part is
represented by front teeth. Applying veneers, it is posibble
to alter front teeth in colour,
shape or size.
Scope of direct
veneers:
- Malformation in the enamel, caries
or discolouration in the tooth substance:
- Injuries: fractures of the incisors'
edge:
- Spalling of the incisors' edge:
- Correction in the colour of discoloured
teeth, which underwent root canal treatment:
- Rearranging teeth standing aside
from the level of the dental arch by applying veneers,
in order to restore the harmony of the denture:
- Diminution/ elimination of gaps
between teeth:
- Correction of the dental axis
without undergoing orthodontic treatment:
There are cases
when we do not recommend veneers:
- In cases of considerably impaired
teeth we recommend crowns without metal
- Poor oral hygiene
- Severe biting disorders
- Intense night bruxism (crunching
of teeth at night)
