Professional Teeth Whitening

Age, as well as coffee, tea, tobacco and wine, can leave your teeth an undesirable shade of yellow. A lot of practices offer the most advanced teeth whitening options in Sydney, New South Wales, to dramatically whiten and brighten your yellowing teeth.

The Take-Home Teeth Whitening Process:

Dentists will first custom design bleaching trays that fit comfortably over your top and bottom teeth. The trays are filled with a bleaching gel and are worn for several hours at a time, typically at night. While the hydrogen peroxide active ingredient is in contact with your teeth, oxygen is allowed in, which whitens your teeth.

The results of an at-home teeth whitening supervised by your dentist can boost your self-esteem, leaving you with a whiter, more beautiful smile.

..........................................................................................................

Professional (laser) teeth whitening: Whitening teeth with peroxide bleaching compounds has become an extremely popular procedure, both with dental patients and dentists alike. While there are many variations on this whitening technique two of the broadest categories it encompasses are professional teeth whitening treatments (performed by a dentist in their office) and at-home teeth whitening (where the bleaching treatments are performed unsupervised by the person on their own).

While both of these teeth bleaching systems can offer similar whitening results there are distinct advantages and disadvantages to each of them.

What is the best professional teeth whitening system?....... Which bleaching treatments give the best results?

We've simply read too many research articles. We'd like to think that we now know too much. Without question we absolutely feel that there's too much hype published about teeth whitening products. And it would be our conclusion that no one professional teeth whitening system has clearly been demonstrated to be the best.

What do dental publications report about professional teeth whitening products?
There is no shortage of dental literature detailing clinical trials that compare different brands of teeth whitening products. Some of this research has been sponsored by the manufacturers of teeth bleaching systems. Some of this research involves methodology that appears flawed, or at the least could have been designed better. Of that research that seems objective some products do tend to rise to the top as far as providing whitening results. But these same whiteners are not the ones that studies have found to have the greatest color stability over time. And maybe most importantly we would suggest that many of those results that a researcher's calculations have determined are "statistically significant" are not necessarily comparative whitening results that can be readily visualized by dental patients.

Try to pick the best dentist, not the best whitening system.

There are a number of factors that play a role in teeth whitening outcomes. Clearly the precise situation that the patient's teeth present is one major factor. Not all patients can obtain the same whitening results. As an example, people with darker teeth tend to get a greater degree of whitening than those with lighter teeth. Additionally, the degree of whitening that is achieved will relapse at different rates with different people. Actually even different teeth in a person's mouth will respond to a teeth whitening product slightly differently. Beyond these variables there are factors related to the dentist's application of the whitener. Specific whiteners are intended to be handled and utilized in a specific way. The outcome of the whitening treatments can be affected by the dentist's adherence to the protocol recommended by the manufacturer.

We would think that the best way to pick a professional teeth whitening system is by way of choosing the dentist who will perform the treatments. Is the dentist someone who seems to have a great interest in teeth whitening? Do they perform a lot of whitening treatments? Do they have more than one whitening method to offer you? Do you know any of their patients who have had whitening treatments and are they happy with the results? Choose the dentist that you feel can do the best job, then rely on the dentist to pick the whitening product that they feel gives the best results.

When Should My Child Start Seeing a Dentist?

It is generally recommended that an infant be seen by a dentist by the age of 1 or within 6 months after his or her first tooth comes in.

.........................................

Pain is one of the reasons people go to the dentist. A painful tooth can be triggered by hot or cold food and drinks. Heavy biting or grinding may fracture a tooth and cause the tooth to hurt when you chew. Sometimes, when a filling falls out, you may have a throbbing ache.
